Da da da

Derek has figured out how to say dada, gaga, and baba. Yeah Derek. He loves his new talent. We went for a walk and MIke wore the carrier. Derek loved being with Daddy. Mike thought the carrier was uncomfortable and made for girls. He wants to get a "manly" carrier. Good thing the REI sale starts this week,

Pasta

Derek fed himself pasta for lunch. Can you tell? Silly me for not stripping off his clothes first. He is now in his second outfit of the day.

Derek is 9 months old plus one day (who knew the 24th was yesterday)?

Obstacles

Derek loves obstacle courses. He likes to climb over pillows, crawl around the house, pull himself up on everything, and chew on everything he can. Derek loves to watch Daddy build towers he can pull over. Derek loves to snuggle. As I write this, he is giggling. So Fun.

Having fun eating

Derek is doing a great job learning how to feed himself. I put cheerios and bananas on his tray for him to eat. He was able to get lots in his mouth but a fair amount was in his hair, in his lap, and on the floor. He then polished off a bowl of yogurt (that I fed him). He was still hungry and ate some avocado. He ate a ton. He was such a mess that dinner was quickly followed by a bath. Somehow avocado even made it into his diaper!

Sonic

On Friday we went to Sonic for dinner. Mike and Alex used to go to Sonic (a drive-in restaurant) when they lived in Austin. I was excited to go for the Sonic experience so we loaded up the doggies and went to get dinner. The food was not so good but the entertainment was priceless. We were parked next to a real hillbilly and laughed the entire time we were there. This was what we remember from him ordering- some of the best phrases he used:
-I got it dingus (his teenage son). I already ordered it.
-I want chilli on everything but the Coke. I have to drive clear out to Lebanon and I have got teens in the car and I want to be fartin' on them all the way.
-I ain't never heard of a Sonic without a chilli cheeseburger. I have been coming to Sonics for 40 years.

He was so funny that we think the staff thought he was a kid messing with them so they sent out a manager to watch what was going on. It was great. Added to the atmosphere were the carhops on skates. I kept hoping they would fall and send food everywhere. I know I know I am evil (as Mike kept telling me). Poor little Derek slept through the experience and missed the whole thing.

Thanks Grandma Susy for the fun outfits. I look like such a big boy! I am glad you had fun at the game even though the Packers lost. You are so hip Grandma seeing Jay-Z and knowing who he was. I can't wait to see the pictures.
