Outside

Yesterday Derek and I went outside to play- it was finally not raining! He loves his slide and running around. He did like having his cheerios as well which worked fun until his hands got grubby and he still wanted to snack. Oh well. It was still fun!


Today is Mike's birthday!! We will are going to have lots of family time. For dinner Mike wanted lasagna. I also made him a chocolate cake. We wanted to do something fun outside today but that will have to wait due to the rain.

It was like looking in the mirror

We went over to my friend Thomas' house and what a surprise. We were dressed the same. Our mommies laughed a lot. We played a ton and our mommies talked. It was a great morning!

Derek loves to feed himself with a spoon. He does really well with thicker soups and solids. The yogurt is still a bit tricky. It becomes a great game. Needless to say, a bath followed dinner!

Hanging out with Tyler

We had a fun play date with our buddy Tyler. Tyler and Derek loved the play equipment. We also went to the hospital with Tyler and his mommy Jessica to see our buddy Claire. She has a new baby brother named Sawyer. Jess wrote a great blog about our time- she is really creative. You can see it at

Lunch

Derek has been so funny eating lately. This weekend he didn't eat much. I think it took all weekend for his tummy to feel better. Then today at lunch I gave him soup in his bowl. He did a great job feeding himself. He usually ate with his right hand, but sometimes he switched to his left hand. Then other times he held his spoon in his right hand and used his fingers from his left hand to stuff food into his mouth. Even his apples and grilled cheese went into the bowl to be used with the spoon.

Fun new slide

We set-up a slide for Derek yesterday. Our dear friends gave it to us when they left to go home to England. Derek loves it! He looked down it with a mmm look. After several tries with Daddy's help going down, he pushed Mike's hands away and did it by himself. He had quite the shocked look on his face going down and landing. After he landed, he had a huge grin on his face... so much fun (you can see his smile if you enlarge the picture). Now he needs to learn how to climb the ladder. After the fun slide, we went on our swing with Daddy. Then he chased Lucky and Alex around the yard. It was a great afternoon.

Family pictures are today

We are having family pictures taken today. Don't I look adorable? I don't feel so well though. I got really sick last night right after Daddy put me to bed. So I had a second bath of the night. I woke up at 5 this morning and wouldn't let Mommy put me back in my bed so she and I snuggled until 7. We went to a really pretty park to take pictures. I hope they turn out well because I still don't feel all better. I sure do look cute though!

Derek loves to hug Lucky. Now he likes to kiss her. It is kind of gross but very cute.

First haircut

Derek had his first haircut on Friday. We went to Little Clippers and they did a great job. They put a video in for Derek to watch but he had no interest in it. He did want to touch the clippers. He only cried a little bit and did so well. Mostly they just cut off all the shaggy pieces. He left with a balloon, a certificate, and a little packet of his hair. So cute!

Adventures with the snack cup

Derek loves his snack cup. He just eats and plays all morning. He is also a big fan of the wooden spoon. Last night he walked around with the spoon in the cup. He thought it was great fun. I wish we had captured a photo when he pulled the spoon out and cheerios went everywhere. He laughed so hard and then did it again.

He is now a much happier boy now that his first molar is all the way through. He is back to sleeping again which is wonderful for us all!

I sing you sing

After the much-needed meds for his teeth kicked in, a much happier Derek emerged and found his microphone. It was time to sing! He was singing and then decided that Daddy must sing. His depth perception is not quite there and the microphone often was pushed in Mike's mouth. They had a grand time!

Snuggles with Daddy

All Derek wanted to do was snuggle with Daddy on Sunday morning. We all had a rough night on Saturday night after Mike got home. Derek was up and crying 4 times. We finally figured out why on Sunday when we found a molar had broken through. Poor little guy. He hurts! Lots of snuggles with Daddy helped a lot.

Climbing my table

Derek has been climbing this table for a long time to get to the couch. I finally got pictures of it.


Good news... we pick up Mike from the airport in 3 hours!! Yippee! Derek has been so good and made it an easy week. That being said, we are so glad Mike is coming home. We miss him lots and lots!

A basket full of God's kindness

When I was single, I used to put magazines and IKEA catalogues in this basket. I never pictured someday I would have a sweet boy who would love to sit and play in it. Enjoy your basket Derek. I love you my precious little boy. You are our gift from God.

The microphone

Auntie Alli,
I found this microphone. Where do I plug it in? Will it work if I plug it in the fireplace like you used to? I guess it is a good thing you are coming next month because I need your help! I love you and miss you.

Derek and the packing bubbles

Derek found the packing bubbles and loves them. He is trying to pop them. He enjoys the crinkle noise they make. Such fun! His smiles are giggles are so fun.

Poor doggies are tired. Lucky's new hiding spot is right over the vent. Figures.

Hostage

Daddy I have taken the penguin hostage. Here is the list of my demands and no one gets hurt!

-toys, toys, and more toys
-lots of time to play with you
-lots of snuggles when you get home
- a mocha for Mommy- I am wearing her out this week

I miss you Daddy so I had to take some drastic measures. Come home!
