Silly boy

Derek was a bit out of it this morning. He usually playw with the stuffed monkey in his high chair. Today he put it on his head. I just wish I could have taken the picture as he stuck his tongue out! It is not as clear in the picture as I would like, but Mike and I were playing count the chins today. There were at least 2. His head- and his cheeks- look bigger overnight.

I am so glad we will be in WI in 2 weeks. I was really homesick yesterday. The yucky weather outside didn't help as we didn't get to walk either. Today is looking better- both in how I feel and the weather.

mmm cookies

Can i jump high enough to get the cookie? Why aren't my legs longer to get the cookies? Just smelling them is just not enough!

I'm a big kid now

I am finally big enough and it is cold enough for me to wear the sweater that Miss Karen knit for me. It has a penguin on it and it is so cool. This morning we went on a long walk with the doggies. Between my sweater and my Raiders hat I was a fashion yes.

Just like Auntie Alli

When Al was little and didn't want to take a nap, our mom would tell her to lie down and cover up her head. She always fell asleep even though she said she wasn't tired. Well now Derek is covering his head- to be like Auntie Alli. He puts his thumbs through the holes in his blankie and covers up his head. When I pull it down below his shoulders when he is sleeping, he quickly covers his head back up. Last night, when Derek was trying to fall asleep, Mike went in to soothe him. When Derek's head wasn't covered, he whined. Then Derek would pull the blankie over his head and quiet down immediately. He did this several times. Mike came back out laughing of course. Derek just wants to be cool like Auntie Alli.

Swimsuit...check. hat.... check... now where is the pool and the sun?

Eating banana

Yesterday we gave Derek some banana at lunch. He makes some great faces. He will let in on his tongue, drop it out of his mouth, and sometimes eat it. Sometimes after he eats a piece he will get all excited for another one. It is a fun adventure.

Another day of rain... ugh!

2 naps in the crib in 1 day!

Our Derek is a wonderful sleeper at night. Days are harder. Today was a wonderful surprise- two naps in his crib today. One nap was 40 minutes and the other was 30 minutes. It was wonderful. I took the picture during the second nap. He opened his eyes, looked at me, and went right back to sleep. He loves his blankie from Auntie Alli. We often find him clutching it, eating it, or just playing with it!

Mike was on Daddy duty as I had a meeting at church last night. Derek slept the whole time I was gone. He woke up 3 minutes after I walked in the door. I think he has mommy- radar. Or more likely he just happened to wake up and realized he was hungry. After he ate he slept until the morning. Yeah!

It is raining again today. As soon as it stopped, we were out the door on a walk. Tomorrow looks more of the same. We are looking forward to warm weather soon!

It is less than 3 weeks until Derek and I are in WI!!!
