Biscuit fun

Derek tried teething biscuits today. He really likes them. They are quite messy as you can see from the mess on his shirt.

All by myself

Here is Derek after pulling himself up. So proud. As I write he is again standing at the fireplace and doing his best Darth Vader impression.

We started Mommy and Me swim lessons. It is fun. Derek enjoys the water. He doesn't like water on his face quite yet. He did a great job in the pool. I need to bring my camera to show the fun. Here is a fun after-bath picture with his new towel as he outgrew his other ones.

Back to a routine

We are back to everyday mode after 2 wonderful weeks together as a family. We had a great weekend with friends. We had friends over for dinner on Saturday, went to an outdoor concert on Sunday afternoon, and went to a football party last night.

Derek is great. He is zooming all over. Yesterday he learned how to pull himself up on the fireplace hearth. He is quite proud of himself. Last night he was taking steps holding on to the couch. Derek is a mover; a happy go lucky mover.

Babyzilla and the legos

Mike got legos today.. for Derek of course. Babyzilla likes to pull over the tower as it is being built. He also likes to bang the legos together to make great noises. Mike is very happy that Derek is "old" enough to play with legos. I think MIke is having more fun but it is good Daddy and Derek time.

Also today as Derek was eating he was pulling off his bib. I told him NO. Each time I said NO he laughed. He laughed! What do I do with him?

Mt. Hood

Today we went to Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. It was a fun day. Some highlights:
-It was sunny when we got there and I forgot to pack us hats so we went to the gift store to buy hats. The hat that fit me was a kids hat made for kids 4-7. It is official; I have a pinhead.
-I was able to take my picture with a giant bear... with Derek. Hopefully Derek will inherit my love of pictures with giant animals.
-There were lots of beautiful wildflowers on the hikes we went on.
-Derek was a trooper in his carrier and on the ride. He slept the whole way there and part of the way back.
-Mt. Hood is majestic up close and far away. We love being able to see "our Mt. Hood" most days.

Big update: As I am writing this, Derek just pulled himself up on his toy shelf by himself. Our little scooter is becoming more mobile every day.

Tunnel Fun

I finally got my tunnel.. I mean Derek got his tunnel. I have waited so long until Derek could crawl to play in the tunnel. We stopped at IKEA on the way home from the airport to avoid a second trip out there. Derek likes the tunnel. I think he likes when I roll him in it the most. Mike was worried he would come home from work to find me stuck in it. Good news.. I can fit in it very nicely. Mike's shoulders are just too big to fit through. I tried to lure Lucky in it but she didn't want to go. Good thing.

Now if we just had carpeted stairs so Derek so slide down the stairs in the tunnel or roll down. Mmm maybe those are things I did that I should not encourage!

Fun at the Coast

We had a relaxing time away at the coast. We went to Cannon Beach. Derek and Lucky stayed in a hotel room for the first time. Here is Derek enjoying the hotel room (in his Elmo outfit from Grandma Susy). Derek enjoyed playing in the sand and taking off his hat. I kept putting it back on as it was warm. The dogs enjoyed several walks on the beach with Mike. Lucky did not really like the water.

After a yummy dinner of fish and chips, we went to watch the beautiful sunset. To cap off a wonderful evening, Derek slept the whole night in his pack and play.

It was a wonderful time away.
