Let's Go Hiking

We are all ready to go hiking as Mike just got his new backpack carrier. Derek likes being up high and looking around.. at least in the living room!

Daddy's home!!!

My Daddy is home from Taiwan. I got so excited when I saw him at the airport that I just started to yell. He didn't sleep the WHOLE trip more than 14 hours so he was very tired when he got home. We all took a nap this morning. I slept in my crib for an hour and then Mommy brought me to nap with them and I slept for another hour. Daddy brought me a fun gift I can play with when I get bigger. It is an origami set that has lots of dinosaurs to make. So fun. Mommy says I can't play with it now because I will eat the paper. I think she is right.

Welcome home Daddy. The gift is fun but having you back is better! Mommy says I was so good when you were gone. I tried my best to help out Mommy by sleeping well and eating well. I love you Daddy!

Playing with the dogs

Derek loves to play with dogs. He likes to chase after them and touch them. The dogs are not so sure they want to play with him. So far they just run away from him- a fine response.

We miss Mike a ton but Derek and I are taking it day-by-day. Today we had swim lessons to look forward to. Derek did great. He is getting better at going under the water. He still comes up sputtering each time. He is a trooper. We are excited that Mike comes home Thursday.

Why is Derek smiling?

Derek is smiling because he actually was able to reach Lucky on the couch and pet her nose. He was actually gentle. Yeah. He is having fun playing and making noise with all his toys.

So Lucky had to go to the vet for her allergies..again. I knew I was there entirely too much when after being asked for my name the receptionist at the vet said, "Oh I thought I recognized your voice." Lucky is doing better after a cortizone shot that will make her very thirsty and hungrier this week. Great she will be hungry and the vet just told me to put her on a diet. The Lucky stories continue...

Funny thing seen this weekend: A 20 something guy skateboarding (a usual occurrence around here) with a "foofie" little white dog in his arms. I laughed for a long time.

Mike is safely in Taiwan. Yeah. We love you!

The zoo

This afternoon Derek and I joined Kati and her son Will for an outing at the zoo. It was great to walk around and enjoy an incredible fall day. We saw the adorable baby elephant, penguins, and the giraffe. I am pretty sure I enjoyed the animals more than Derek did, but he enjoyed people watching.

It was a nice distraction as Mike left for Taiwan this morning. Mike was supposed to leave yesterday but got bumped off the flight until today. We went back to the airport to pick him up and enjoyed a great evening of Mexican food and gelato for dessert. It was great to have him for one extra day. It will be a short trip as Mike gets home on Thursday morning. We miss him already.
