Forts and Music

I have been making forts for Derek for well over a year. Usually he just jumps in the middle of the fort and giggles but recently he really has gotten into building and playing in the forts. We read books and have snacks in the forts. He is asking me everyday to make a fort and a new kind of fort. It is so fun to watch him enjoy the forts. I remember spending many a winter day in a fort as a kid.

Derek is also into the drums. We gave him a fancy drum- a coffee can and some wooden spoons. He loves to sing Jesus loves me and wind the bobbin up while banging on his drum. It is great-- until he uses his fork as a drumstick at dinner!

HA! Drumstick fork :) I always wondered why parents felt the need to spend bajillions of dollars on toys when all little kids want is a good set of tupperware bowls and a couple of wooden spoons! And the occasional cardboard box. P.S. Forts are amazing. Can't wait for Levi to be as interested as D :)
